Sideboard Options: An Explanation of Terms
Hardwood: Wood choice affects the appearance, durability and cost of our sideboards. See our hardwood sample section for details on available hardwoods.
For the cost conscious, oak or soft maple is the preferred option. Oak is very versatile and can be stained a number of different colors.
For added durability, we recommend hard maple and hickory. Both are exceptionally strong and durable woods.
For a truly beautiful cabinet, we recommend cherry and walnut. They are gorgeous hardwoods, and a walnut or cherry cabinet is a wonderful way to show off its complex grain and color.
Size: We offer several standard sizes of sideboard. The standard sizes are designed to store table leaves (see below).
Custom sized and sideboards are also available, and can be created to nearly any size with your preferred layout of drawers and doors. Please contact us for a price quote.
Wood Finish: Select the finish to match your choice of hardwood. You can learn more about the qualities of these finishes in our hardwood sample pages.
Style: Our sideboards can be created in the same style as any of our china cabinets, bedroom dressers or armoires. The most popular styles are available as standard choices.
Configuration: The Standard Storage configuration is designed to store dinnerware and other items. It has doors and drawers designed for this purpose.
The Table Leaf Storage configuration is designed to store table leaves:
37" x 36" x 19" sideboards hold three 12" table leaves, for a 32" wide table
37" x 36" x 25" sideboards hold three 18" table leaves, for a 32" wide table
47" x 36" x 19" sideboards hold three 12" table leaves, for a 42" wide table
47" x 36" x 25" sideboards hold three 18" table leaves, for a 42" wide table
53" x 36" x 19" sideboards hold three 12" table leaves, for a 48" wide table
53" x 36" x 25" sideboards hold three 18" table leaves, for a 48" wide table
Custom sized sideboards are available to store additional leaves, leaves for tables of non-standard size, etc.

Please note that when selecting custom hardware, there will be some variation in the hardware used depending on the furniture piece. The images provided are representative of the hardware style. (For example, slightly different hardware is used on cabinet doors then is used on cabinet drawers due to their size and orientation). Custom hardware will always be the same style, but may be a different size or shape. This decision is left up to the discretion of the craftsman.
Hardwood Rear Panel: All visible potions of our sideboards (the front, sides and top) are created from solid hardwood.
The rear panel of our sideboards are crafted from high-quality composite wood, created by gluing thin strips of solid wood together into a thicker panel. You can see an example of this wood in oak in this photo, shown on two armoires. The composite wood panel is shown on the rear wall of the cabinet.
When upgrading to a solid wood rear panel, the back of the cabinet is created in the same hardwood as the front of the piece. You can see an example of this on the back of a shaker style dresser.
Inside Delivery and Setup:
Standard shipping is via curbside delivery, in which the furniture is delivered to the exterior of your home. The package is not unpacked, brought inside your home, or setup in any way.
Inside the home delivery and setup means that the furniture pieces are brought inside the home, unpacked, and setup in a room of your choice.
When purchasing multiple pieces of dining furniture at once, you only need to choose this add-on once. All of the pieces will be hand-delivered inside your home together.

The drawers are created utilizing traditional dovetail construction, which is used to draw them into a single, strong box that is durable and will hold a heavy load. Shipping: The time to create our cabinets ranges from 4-6 weeks. Shipping is done via freight carrier, and takes an additional 1-3 weeks.
