Details on Mixed Wood & Mixed Stain Tables
Mixed Stain: Mixed stain designs are very limited. On most tables, we can stain three parts of the table differently: the tabletop, the skirt (the area underneath the tabletop), and the table base. This is the limit of mixed stain variation on most of our table designs.
Several of our new tables have been designed with mixed stains in mind. The serenity, square colonial, round colonial, zen mission and turin dining tables can be created in complex mixed stain designs. The advantage to this is cost savings: it is less expensive to create variation with stained oak hardwood, than it is to create variaiton with hard maple & walnut hardwoods.
Mixed stain pricing is the same as a standard table.
Mixed Wood: Mixed wood designs can be very complex, but are limited to tables with a single wood finish (generally natural, or oil & wax). The contrast comes from the natural color of the two woods.
(To clarify: Mixed wood designs are all finished with the same stain. We cannot stain the diamond inlays in midnight oak, and the rest of the tabletop in honey oak).
The most common mixed wood combinations are walnut & hard maple, walnut & cherry, walnut & hickory, hard maple & cherry.
Mixed wood pricing is the same as a standard table, with the following exceptions:
Table Fluting: Fluting is a more complicated wood design that adds detail to the table. Fluting can be added to the
skirt or legs of a table. It can be done as single wood fluting (the variation comes from the relief provided by the fluting), or in mixed wood (where the variation is increased with distinct color changes). The cost for this option ranges from $200-700, depending on the type of fluting and the size of the table.
Border Designs: A variation on mixed wood design, a border table has a distinct border along the edge of the tabletop or legs. It's creates
a very distinctive look. The cost for this design is fairly expensive, as it is very labor intensive. Please contact us for a custom price quote.
Diamond Inlays: Can be added to the tabletop, skirt or legs. No additional cost.
