Wooden Kitchen Tables
When you buy mass-produced furniture, you are getting pieces manufactured with "man-made" or engineered woods. These include particle board (chip board), plywood and laminated timber sections.
These artificial woods are constructed using heat and high pressure, with adhesives that may include formaldehyde, phenol, melamine, or methylene diphenyl diisocyanate – a distant cousin of cyanide. This means that cheaper grades are structurally unsound, and that all grades release volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, that can seriously compromise human health.
At Erik Organic, our Amish furniture artisans use only 100-percent hardwoods, made by Nature and sustainably grown and harvested for decades of use without destroying the environment.
Nor are there only one or two choices of hardwood. Instead, the company offers a full spectrum of types – 70 in all – which can be used alone or in tandem with other woods for striking furniture effects, like Erik Organic's timber-edge tables, where light and dark woods alternate around the perimeter of the tabletop like a visual dentil molding.
This means that you can choose the old familiars – oak and maple – but also cherry, walnut and hickory, in shades from the palest honey hickory to a rich, deep, almost-black oak called midnight.
When quality is important, and durability is uppermost in your furniture buying decision-making process, choose Erik Organic solid wood kitchen tables for that heirloom quality many promise but few deliver. |
