Counter Height Kitchen Tables
The standard height for a kitchen or dining room table at which people are seated to eat a meal is about 30 inches. This height has changed over the centuries, of course, as people grew taller, but the paradigm - of tables slightly above waist height – has continued.
A good standard table height is one at which most people can sit with arms bent at the elbows in a 90-degree angle and place their hands flat on the table. Occasionally, however, homeowners and hostesses find it more practical to buy a kitchen table that is at counter height. That way, kitchen counter surfaces can be expanded to serve hors d'oeuvres at a cocktail party, or a buffet lunch to the bridge club.
A prime example of a counter height kitchen table is the Barcelona Pub Table. At a full three feet high and 42 inches in diameter, it can be paired with barstools to offer a café or ale house ambience. When in use as a counter extension, simply slide the stools under.
Delicious in rich chocolate cherry, or eyepopping in medium and midnight oak, the Barcelona is also the perfect choice for meals, and families, on the fly. Of course, if round isn't quite to your taste, you can choose any of Erik Organic's kitchen table styles, from the stylish yet simple Gateleg Mission Table to the Western Kitchen Table with its svelte legs, and have them custom-made to the height you prefer.
All tables are available in one (or more) of the 70 gorgeous hardwoods offered by Erik Organic's Amish furniture gurus. These hardwood varieties, ranging from oak to cherry to hickory to walnut, are sustainably grown and harvested, many from within 50 miles of the shop, and air- and kiln-dried to remove moisture and help prevent warping. |
