Unique Dining Table Details

Most dining tables, and dining sets, follow styles set in earlier centuries. These can include classic styles like Heppelwhite and Sheraton, with their simple yet elegant lines, slender tapering legs and arrow feet, or more modern styles like retro and Danish, the first a re-adaptation of 1950s plastic chairs and space-age shapes, the second comprised of sleek shapes and starkly simple type pieces where form follows function and little else.

At Erik Organic, you can explore many of these design paradigms to single out the unique pieces of furniture your adventurous soul and eclectic sense of style demand.

You can, for example, choose the Santego dining table, whose plank styling and plain lines echo the Primitive furniture motif found in Pioneer times, when a table might be no more than a series of wooden boards on a pair of trestle legs.

Where a settler's table might be no more than bare pine boards axed and adzed out of the forest, however, the Santego is superbly crafted by Amish furniture experts from select hardwoods sustainably harvested, hand dried and shaped into a modern Primitive whose wood gleams richly from under its carefully chosen finish.

For something even more eyecatching, choose the Turin dining table, whose legs - shaped to look like the turrets of a Medieval castle - are mounted on curiously shaped bases connected, as it were, by a stretcher that looks like the drawbridge to that same castle. Add to that a custom timber edge on the tabletop, and dual-toned woods in the legs and base, and your dining room table is as much a work of art as a place to sit and share a meal.

Those looking for something out of the ordinary in a dining table must see the Woodland model, a trestle table with a spindled stretcher that not only comes in dual-toned hardwoods - buttery oak for the tabletop, midnight oak for the trestles and stretcher - but can be custom-fitted with grooved, pillared trestles and a dentil molding along the table rail or apron. Or choose the Victoria, with its single-beam stretcher and legs comprised of two planks at right angles.
