Square Dining Table Details
One of the most difficult things for a furniture craftsman to do is to create a square dining table that doesn't look awkward or outsized in today's long, narrow dining rooms.
In fact, that is what square tables are designed to do - fit the aesthetic of a square dining room and maximize the space available, as opposed to the more common rectangular tables, which provide less seating (per side) and take up too much space in one direction or the other in square rooms.
For those of us living in turn-of-the-century homes, with their squared spaces and high ceilings, Erik Organic offers all the familiar dining table models - the classically styled Woodland, the eclectic and evocatively Oriental Montreal, even the Colonial trestle-style table - in squared versions, and all retain the elegant dimensions and superb craftsmanship of their rectangular prototypes.
A timeless example is the square Craftsman kitchen table, in medium oak. This table, with its gleaming, honey-toned finish, features saber-style legs reinterpreted for today's dining rooms as a sturdier version of the original. Add to that a cross-shaped, spindled stretcher comprised of carefully calibrated vertical members, and the squared rooms of yesterday find their perfect expression today.
For those whose tastes run to the eye-catchingly unusual, the square Huntington dining table, with its wasp-waist plank leg construction on a darker trestle base, offers a feel of Art Deco alongside the kind of care and attention to detail that assures Erik Organic tables will last for generations.
All Erik Organic furniture is made from sustainably grown and sustainably harvested hardwood, and shaped by Amish artisans who have spent the better part of a quarter century mastering the furniture-maker's trade.
