Oval Dining Room Table Details
Down through the ages, furniture designers have intuitively understood that, while square tables and squared furniture edges suggest sturdiness, rounded tables and rounded edges are more inviting to the eye, the touch, and the sensibility of the user.
This is likely because there are no square edges in Nature, and Erik Organic's dining tables, translated into carefully calibrated oval shapes that enhance rather than overwhelming the various styles of leg, are a welcoming addition to a formal dining room or less formal eating nook or extended kitchen.
A classic example would be the Montrose dining table, elegant when squared but sumptuous when rounded. Coupled with gracefully curving saber legs, the design becomes evocative of the Empire Period in furniture design but without the inherent fragility. This is a table that invites family and friends to sit, take a load off, chat and share a cup of hot coffee or a bowl of nourishing soup.
Equally as welcoming, if a little more ornate, is the Lotus oval dining table, with its interrupted dentil molding on the apron and the artfully turned pillar- or pedestal-style legs on a solid base reminiscent of a box stretcher frame. A similar design, and even more interesting leg detail, is available on the Riverside oval dining table, which features a center stretcher spaced by turned spindles between two turned and footed trestle legs.
For a feeling that is as simple as Shaker and as elemental as Mission style, choose the Woodland oval dining table, with its chamfered surface and deceptively delicate-looking tapered legs.
