Cherry Dining Table Details
Few furniture styles are as elegantly simple and timeless as Shaker furniture. Originally created to bring furniture back to its functional roots - or, as designers would say, "to insure that form follows function" - the clean and sturdy lines of Erik Organic's cherry Shaker dining table beckon family and friends to return to a time when life was simpler and more clear-cut.
Available in chocolate cherry finish or antique cherry finish, these simply beautiful dining room tables can also be recreated in a variety of custom hardwoods and furniture finishes, including dual finishes like the peppercorn and natural cherry Mission dining table, which blends the aged patina of dark walnut with the gleaming, pale luster of new cherry wood to create an eclectic look that melds perfectly with the simple functionality of Mission design.
Mission-style furniture, like Shaker furniture, was a revolt against the overly ornate and fussy Victorian era, and such designs permit the beauty of the real wood to show through. With cherry though - a remarkable wood that actually changes color as it ages, from buttery pale to the roseate warmth of ripened cherry - the wood is equally at home in Erik Organic's interpretation of the classic trestle table, or even in the Lancaster kitchen/dining table style.
In addition to aging, natural cherry hardwoods also present different color woods, whether from the heart of the tree (which is darker but warmer) to the outer layers, which are typically pale and creamy. This is the wood used in the Riverside dining table, and it's rich honey color, rounded top and turned legs all beg to blend into a country kitchen, whether Early American, Colonial or even Primitive designs prevail.
Regardless of the era, each of Erik Organic's tables - indeed, all its furniture - is made from sustainably grown and harvested wood, often obtained from within 50 miles of the shop. In addition, because it is crafted by Amish artisans, all with a quarter century of experience, each is guaranteed to meet your expectations for quality, durability and charm.
