Baroque Cedar Chest Characteristics
Our Baroque cedar chests are created from solid hardwood including cherry and maple, then lined with solid cedar.
We use only genuine hardwoods in our chests -- there is no pine, plywood filler, pressed wood, "select hardwoods" or veneers used in our chests. The hardwoods used in our chests are locally grown and harvested in the Upper Midwest.
Our chests are shipped fully assembled.

Cedar Chest Options: An Explanation of Terms
Hardwood: Wood choice affects the appearance, durability and cost of our cedar chest. See our hardwood sample section for details on available hardwoods.
For the cost conscious, oak or soft maple is the preferred option. Oak is very versatile and can be stained a number of different colors.
For added durability, we recommend hard maple and hickory. Both are exceptionally strong and durable woods.
For a truly beautiful chest, we recommend cherry and walnut. They are gorgeous hardwoods, and a walnut or cherry cedar chest is a wonderful way to show off its complex grain and color.
Size: We offer several standard sizes of cedar chest. If you'd like a chest created to a custom size, please contact us.
Wood Finish: Select the finish to match your choice of hardwood. You can learn more about the qualities of these finishes in our hardwood sample pages.
Front Lock: Our cedar chests can have a simple lock added to the front.
The lock cannot be turned without a key. Thus, the chest cannot be accidentally locked from the inside.
Padded Seat: A rail is added to the top of the chest, and a removable padded cushion is added in your choice of fabric or leather.
The rail is created in a style to match the cedar chest.

Interior Trays: Chest trays are created from solid cedar, and can be built to fit inside any cedar chest. They ride gently upon a pair of Cedar rails built into the interior, and easily lift out to reveal the interior.

Set of Casters: Casters are added to the bottom of the chest, allowing it to glide along the floor more easily. This is generally recommended for chests larger than 50" in length. They can be set to either 'carpeted floor height' or 'hardwood floor height'.
Hardwood Rear Panel: The rear panel of our cedar chests are finished with a flat poplar, or flat cedar panel created from solid wood. This panel generally faces the wall, or lies flat against the bed.
The rear panel can also be finished in the same hardwood as the rest of the chest (oak, cherry, maple, etc), styled to match the front of the chest. Adding a solid wood rear panel adds 1-2" to the depth of the chest.
Shipping:
Standard shipping is via UPS or curbside delivery (see below for details) in which the furniture is delivered to the exterior of your home. The package is not unpacked, brought inside your home, or setup in any way.
Inside the home delivery and setup means that the furniture pieces are brought inside the home, unpacked, and setup in a room of your choice.
When purchasing multiple pieces of bedroom furniture at once, you only need to choose this add-on once. All of the pieces will be hand-delivered inside your home together.

24" x 14" x 12": Interior measurements are around 18" x 11" x 9", which is about 1780 cubic inches of interior capacity.
30" x 16" x 14": Interior measurements are around 24" x 13" x 11", which is about 3430 cubic inches of interior capacity.
36" x 18" x 16": Interior measurements are around 30" x 15" x 13", which is about 5850 cubic inches of interior capacity.
42" x 20" x 18": Interior measurements are around 36" x 17" x 15", which is about 9180 cubic inches of interior capacity.
46" x 22" x 20": Interior measurements are around 40" x 19" x 17", which is about 12920 cubic inches of interior capacity.
58" x 22" x 22": Interior measurements are around 52" x 19" x 19", which is about 18770 cubic inches of interior capacity.
64" x 22" x 22": Interior measurements are around 58" x 19" x 19", which is about 20940 cubic inches of interior capacity.
72" x 22" x 22": Interior measurements are around 66" x 19" x 19", which is about 23830 cubic inches of interior capacity.
Please not that these are just estimates, and that each style of cedar chest varies a bit. A style with tall legs or a deep lid has decreased interior capacity.

Cedar Chest Construction
Our furniture is 100% American-made, and is created from American-made hardware and American-grown hardwoods. Your purchase of an Erik Organic furniture piece directly supports the rural Midwestern economy.
Each cedar chest is created from solid hardwood on the front, top and side panels. The bottom and rear panels are finished with solid poplar and/or solid cedar, depending on the chest design.
The interior of cedar chests are lined with solid cedar, and are left unfinished (no wood stain or varnish).

Shipping for chests under 50" in length is via UPS, and takes 3-5 business days.
Shipping for chests over 50" in length is via freight carrier, and takes around 1-3 weeks.
